Health Guarantee and Exclusions:

This health guarantee excludes any defects explicitly listed in the contract. The buyer acknowledges these known defects and assumes all associated risks and responsibilities. Health conditions resulting from the buyer's ill treatment, neglect, or issues arising from transportation are not covered by this guarantee. All puppies come with a one-year genetic/congenital health guarantee, provided that the puppy is examined by a licensed veterinarian within 3 business days of pickup.

Genetic/Congenital Guarantee:

The genetic/congenital guarantee covers untreatable, life-threatening genetic/congenital defects for up to one year from the purchase date. A refund will be issued if both the buyer's veterinarian and the breeder/seller's veterinarian confirm such a defect. In cases of death, a necropsy may be required to establish if the cause is genetic/congenital before a refund is issued.

Guarantee Activation and Conditions:

Failure to complete a licensed veterinarian's check within 3 business days of purchase voids the genetic/congenital guarantee and the health agreement. The buyer must provide a copy of the vet check paperwork to the breeder/seller to activate the warranty. Failure to do so or non-adherence to vaccination schedules voids the warranty. The breeder/seller can request documentation/proof at any time to ensure responsible pet ownership. Failure to follow recommended vaccination schedule will void void health guarantee as well.

Exclusions from Health Guarantee:

Common, correctable non-life-threatening conditions in Shih Tzus are not covered by the genetic/congenital health guarantee. Examples include delayed closure/hernia, undescended testicles, pinched nostrils, hypoglycemia, open fontanel, retained/impacted teeth, and other similar issues. Eye and dental issues common in brachycephalic breeds due to their physical characteristics are also excluded from the health guarantee. Viral and bacterial infections, allergic reactions, vomiting, and diarrhea are not covered by this agreement.

Parasites, Vaccinations, and Insurance:

Intestinal parasites/worms, while common in puppies, do not render a puppy unfit. Puppies will be up to date on core vaccinations and deworming. The buyer is responsible for completing the remainder of the puppy's vaccination series and deworming. The breeder highly recommends purchasing pet insurance to cover the costs of raising a Shih Tzu. Puppies go home with a free month of pet insurance through AKC Registration if activated within 24 hours.

Health Precautions and Awareness:

The buyer is advised to keep the new puppy away from unvaccinated animals, pet stores, dog parks, and other areas where unvaccinated dogs may be present until the vaccine/deworming series is complete. Precautions against diseases like Parvovirus are strongly emphasized.The buyer will receive proof of health checks, deworming, and vaccinations in the Puppy Packet provided on puppy pickup day. Common, correctable non-life-threatening conditions do not warrant a refund or assistance with vet bills.
